Our local Dementia Action Alliance is holding a very special event Dementia: Ask the Experts at the Hall on 20 September, where you can go onboard the virtual tour bus to discover the latest research and your local support services.

Expert speaker panel includes:
Panel session will run from 11am – 12.30pm
Top-level research scientist from Alzheimer’s Research UK who will describe the latest cutting-edge research programmes and latest results.
Clinical psychologist who will discuss the most effective ‘psycho-social interventions’ (with some great take-aways about how you can immediately improve a person’s quality of life at home.
A legal-financial expert who will describe those matters you need to plan ahead for when you have a dementia diagnosis to safeguard yourself and your family.
Finally, our expert by experience, who will share personal insights about what it feels like and the challenges of living day-to-day with dementia.
Marketplace of services:
Marketplace will be open from 10am – 1pm
A range of local area support services from public, private and voluntary sectors will be available to share information and advice before and after the main panel session.

This worldwide, scientifically and medically proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain and experience of what dementia might be like, allows delegates to enter the world of the person and understand which simple changes need to be made to their practice and environment to really improve lives of people with dementia.
