Westgate Hall regularly welcomes social enterprise Bemix Discovery Catering  to our community venue in the heart of Canterbury city centre.

This wonderful group of people with and without learning difficulties, comes together every week to gain skills in cooking and catering.

Discovery Catering

Bemix supports the group to develop and prepare recipes, learn about healthy eating and use kitchen equipment. This leads to members working towards achieving qualifications in hospitality and catering and are supported to work at local catering events.

Bemix monthly pop-up cafe

We regularly host Bemix Discovery Catering’s monthly pop-up cafe. During the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the group have continued to come together at a social distance, in our Covid-secure venue, to plan recipes for when they can get cooking again – we can’t wait to host the cafe again soon.

A trusted venue with community at its heart

Supporting our community is at the core of what we do and stand for – providing a trusted, neutral space for people to come together and thrive.

Karen Franczak, Bemix Discovery Catering Kitchen

"Discovery Catering have been lucky enough to use the wonderful kitchen facilities at Westgate Hall weekly for a few years now. Clare, Cathy and all the team have always been very welcoming and helpful. They know everyone by name and take the time to listen, show interest in all we do and give support and encouragement. We are part of the wider Bemix group who value using Westgate Hall for events and meetings, knowing we will always receive professional, efficient and friendly support. We all feel very much part of the Westgate Hall community."
