Community shapes our space
Westgate Community Trust (Canterbury) Ltd is a charitable trust and social enterprise. We have transformed the concept of a community space, by creating a vibrant venue in Canterbury – Westgate Hall – that responds to the needs of the people living, working and visiting the city. We live our values; enterprising, responsive, changemaking, excellence, and collaboration.
Saved from demolition in 2014, the century-old Westgate Hall has become one of the most trusted, innovative places for hire in Canterbury and the surrounding area. Walk through the doors and feel the community warmth and connectivity that has filled the Hall for over 100 years. Our walls have held the story of our community for over a century, and will continue to for generations to come.
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Our power lies in the strength of our values, team, partnerships and networks.
Being built by public subscription as a Drill Hall for the Territorial Army in 1912 rooted the Hall in the community and determined its character and our purpose -providing a space for everyone to access, enjoy safely together.
Our mission is to preserve, maintain and manage Westgate Hall as a financially self-sustaining community space for the benefit of the people of Canterbury and its districts.
