We are very pleased to report that the Council’s Executive has in principle accepted the Trust’s proposal (with Curzon Cinemas), subject to various conditions (mostly to do with a satisfactory structural survey, legal work and planning permission).

They have also decided to allocate funding so that the Council can keep running the Hall until March 2012, to enable the legal work to be completed. The Trust, if all works well, will then take it over on a 99 year lease.

The decision was unanimous and the councillors who spoke were all incredibly positive about the Trust’s proposal and the prospect of a Curzon cinema in town.

It is wonderful to see that all the hard work has not been in vain. Thank you to all of you who have made this possible, through your help, support and encouragement. Great things can happen when a community pulls together.
