Child Development Unit (U. of Kent: we are looking at how children learn about their world, about other people, and about the language they hear around them. We will be on hand to talk about our work, and to show some of the kit we use in our research – including a computer that can see where you’re looking!)
Food (cake, curry, children’s sandwiches) and refreshments

NCT car demonstration in conjunction with Vauxhall – You will have the chance to look round the new car which has great benefits for parents with young children. Plus, if you subsequently take a test drive, you will qualify for a fantastic free goody bag, and entry into a regional prize draw to win a family holiday. 10.00-10.30 Drama: Stage Spiders
Stage Spiders are a completely voluntary children’s theatre company run by students at The University of Kent. We work with children all over the Canterbury area on a weekly basis and offer free workshops for chilren of all ages during the week and we run a youthgroup for children 5-11 on a Saturday afternoon.

Manners4Minors is a programme developed for 3-6 year olds introducing them to universally acceptable behaviour, manners and social skills. This is achieved through interactive role play using puppets whose characters the children relate to and enjoy thus making the learning process far more fun and results easier to achieve. www.manners4minors.co.uk

The Children and Youth Team are part of the Community Development and Outdoor Leisure Service at Canterbury City Council. We are dedicated to working with children and young people aged five to 18 years and we have been running since 2002. We aim to encourage personal and social development in an ‘out of school, out of home’ setting, and we aim to involve young people and their families in the development of council services.
